Philosophy of Care
No person will be labelled, or will carry with them baggage from their past. Rialto Care Services offers each individual Service User the right to ‘start fresh'. We will present each individual with a series of ‘life options', which, when intergrated into their daily lifestyles can result in their successful re-integration into their new community.
All individuals who may have had behavioural or violence and aggression issues in the past will be given the opportunity to attend CBT or MVA/Anger Management sessions and will be given continual support whilst acquiring their new therapeutic skills, there will also be continual reviews so the Service Users can exercise the right to assist with the modification to their lifestyle.
Each individual will be encouraged to enhance their social activities, and their care/support team will give continual support and encouragement to enable them to progressively develop a social life that is active and well rounded.
We recognize that staff, from time to time, require support so this has lead us to operate a ‘need for space' system. It gives the staff the opportunity to have a little time out when they feel the ‘need for space' themselves. De-briefing sessions, 1 - 1 support with external therapists, and well wo/mens groups will be available to all of our team.
If an individual requires support from a mental health care team then this will immediately be arranged, as our organisation believes in the continual promotion of good mental health for all.
If a Service User does become unwell and is admitted into hospital, it is the responsibility of Rialto Care Services to ensure their discharge as soon as is possible. We will work hand in glove with all relevant clinical/social care teams to achieve discharge.
Challenging Behaviour/Violence & Aggression
Our care planning systems will actively manage, using identified models, any challenging behaviour and violence and aggression that may arise. The models and methods used will vary with levels of severity and change form individual to individual. Using CPA we will attempt to identify what a persons ‘Triggers' are for violent and aggressive outbursts or demonstrations of poor behaviour.
We will strive to remove where possible any and all of these triggers, thus minimizing the amount of times an individual becomes upset, violent and/or aggressive. We will place an emphasis on assisting all Service Users aquiring the essential coping techniques through therapeutic learning.
As an organisation promoting social intergration into local communities we believe that an up-front and honest approach is essential. We will challenge behaviour that is unacceptable, violent and/or aggressive and we will acknowledge and reward socially acceptable behaviour.
Staff Supervision and Communication
Each employee in the Rialto Care Services organisation will have supervision at least six weekly, where their ongoing support, aims, performance and personal developmental needs are discussed on a one to one basis within the line management structure.
Formal Team meetings are to be held on a monthly basis with minutes of meetings passed up through the line management.
Less formal team briefings take place as and when necessary, appropriate to the service.
